River & Poetry Award

This post accepts the Perfect Poet Award from Jingle’s Poetry Rally last week. There is no rally this week, but I still wanted to accept the award.

Race – a rush of ripples
Tumbling leaping down the mountain
Tossing itself into the river
Rippling, rushing, eating at the banks

Tumbling leaping down the mountain
Spilling away as fast as it can
Rippling, rushing, eating at the banks
Smooth on top but moving oh so quickly

Floating the river
A boat, oars, three men.

Spilling away as fast as it can
Rough-and-tumbling along
Smooth on top but moving oh so quickly
Deep, deep water

Blue sky, small riffles
Good times

Rough-and-tumbling along
Tossing itself against trees
Deep, deep water
Races – a rush of ripples

Rough-and-tumbling along
Slow dwindling water
Deep, deep water
Dropping closer to the rocks

Sunken log,
Raft upturned.

Slow dwindling water
Drifts lazily,
Drops closer to the rocks,
Over the waterfall.

Drifting lazily,
Ducks stand on the edge of
Over the waterfall.
Dawdling downstream,

Tumbling down out of air, gulping.

Brown cascades pause at rocks
Deep, deep water
Dawdling downstream
Rough-and-tumbling along

Thank you, Jingle for the lovely award.

If this were a rally week, I would nominate mairmusic for her regular poem postings.
