When I Write Poetry

When I write a poem, I begin with an image in my head. Usually it’s an image of something I’ve seen, sometimes it’s an image triggered by words in a book, or a writing prompt. This image has emotions attached to it. The process of writing the poem is taking that image, and those emotions, and putting them into words.
