The Bedroom

Surrounded by laundry baskets and tiny clothes
We live in here, laugh here, cuddle under the spread
This bedroom is more than walls for a bed.

You can find a rattle behind the door,
Picture books in the nightstand drawer,
Surrounded by laundry baskets and tiny clothes.

Tears for our sick babies, make-up cuddles
Post-fight, little girls snuggling in the morning,
We live in here, laugh here, cuddle under the spread.

In this safe place, sanctified by years together,
We here cement our love and our family.
This bedroom is more than walls for a bed.

  2. My mother used to say that the kitchen was the heart of any home. My wife has always believed that its the bedroom. And the years of addressing the ups and downs of our children, of comforting their nightmares, and nurturing their dreams have given way to repetitions of this with our grandchildren now. Where else would comfort feel so rightly given and received?

That’s wonderful! I like how you make the bedroom the centre of your house, even your life.
