Mini Book Review: Lemon Tart

A mystery, first in a new series, by Josi S. Kilpack. A well-written book, and the identity of the murderer is certainly a surprise, but I’m not sure it was that good. The heroine kept doing stupid, illegal things, and if the detective on the case didn’t have a crush on her, she’d have been arrested for sure. Keeping track of the twists and turns in the plot was a job in itself, and the heroine was saved at the last minute by something truly improbable. Overall, not a bad book, but I don’t think I want to read the next in the series.

Three out of five stars (it was almost two, but it does improve towards the end).

  1. Huh, I’ve never heard of that series. I guess I understand why…

Deus ex machina? An overused fixer-upper.
