Who I Am
I am a writer and an artist living in Idaho. I write an opinion column occasionally for a local newspaper. I believe that justice and compassion are things all people should be striving for, and to that end I work with social justice causes in my community.
This blog is a place for me to document and question a secure middle-class lifestyle in the 21st century United States.
About the Name
I love to garden and create crafts. I want to create here on my blog a welcoming place where you can feel at home and experience many different sights and sounds as you wander through the garden.
I also run a small business by the same name, a store full of my handmade creations, including beaded tassels and preserved flowers from my garden such as rose potpourri and pressed pansies.
About My Poetry
I want to write poetry that actually says something. So much modern poetry takes empty phrases that sound good with a compelling rhythm to tap into the reader’s emotions. I want to tap the reader’s emotions, but to go beyond the visceral and tell a story.

Comments are moderated, so I see and review them before they appear on the site. I will make changes for grammar and spelling. I also check all links. I will remove links that I feel are spam or are selling things. Website is not a required field for completing the comment field. Please use it only to tell me about your personal website/blog, not the one where you’re trying to sell stuff. I will not check links in tiny URL format, and I will not publish comments with links in tiny URL format that I cannot check. I also do not publish obvious spam (I hope that goes without saying).
